Keeping Up To Date With HR

In times of recession you might expect changes to Employment Law and Statutory Legislation to decrease. However, a quick look at the legislative timetable confirms this is not the case.

The art of good HR practice is keeping up with the pace and wherever practicable getting ahead of the game. The last thing you want to do is get behind in implementing statutory employment law which can have serious and expensive consequences for your business. So what advice can we give you to keep ahead of the game?

  • Subscribe to HR/Personnel magazines – they usually are up to speed on what’s happening in the HR field and provide you with an insight into issues affecting business.
  • Join an appropriate professional body and participate in forums and activities.

  • Routinely check your Company Policies and keep them up to date. For example – have you incorporated the statutory changes to Grievance & Discipline effective from 6th April 2009 into your procedures?
