1. JOB TITLE: Technical Proposals Engineer

2. OVERALL PURPOSE OF JOB
The main purpose is to develop, cost and submit timely value engineered tenders for the Marine & Offshore, Naval, Nuclear and Emerging Alternative Energy Markets.

3. MAIN TASKS AND ACTIVITIES
" Promotion of client AC / DC drives, HV / LV Switchgear and Automation Systems to customers.
" Coordinate and support client global in-house sales team and interface with external customers.
" Interpret customer enquiries, address risk mitigation measures and compile engineered cost effective solutions.
" Identification and selection of best value priced components to achieve competitive complaint bid solutions.
" Develop detailed tender proposal costings via co-ordination and negotiation with in-house and external suppliers.
" Produce bid submission schedules, specifications, compliance commentary together with commercial schedules.
" Compile Excel costing data and submit Tender Vet and Risk Review data to nominated Senior Sales Management.
" Action internal contract handover to engineering and provide technical bid support to engineering and commercial departments.

Qualifications/Training
Ideally educated to degree level or equivalent in Electrical Engineering (or related subject) although applications with relevant experience will also be considered.
Experience
Broad experience (minimum 7 years) in a number of the following disciplines:
HV/LV Switchgear, AC/DC Drives, Power Generation, System Protection in Switchgear, Power Systems in a Marine, Naval, Nuclear or alternative Energy environment would be desirable but not essential.
Personal Qualities
The successful candidate must have excellent communication skills, be self motivated, have an open minded approach to working, along with the ability to work on own initiative.
Due to the nature of the role the successful candidate must have the aptitude to plan and organise workload with the ability to work under pressure to meet tender submission deadlines and have a firm and current knowledge of current day IEC standards, together with Marine Classification Society Rules and Regulations.
Proficient in Microsoft packages namely word/excel.
Circumstances
A willingness to attend sales support and / or pre contact award customer negotiation meetings for short periods as and where required is also essential.
Must hold a clean driving licence.
The successful candidate will be working within an experienced technical proposals team, where training and / or mentoring could be provided.
