Structural Engineer - Capability Leader
The role includes responsibility for production of bids, specification and delivery of technical work, winning follow-on business as well as the performance management of the structural engineering team, including identification and provision of required training to maintain capability and compliance with requirements of the Platforms business.
Knowledge, skills and personal qualities required

oThorough understanding of marine structures, including loading mechanisms, materials behaviour, design standards
oThorough knowledge of the Finite Element method and contemporary software tools
oBasic understanding of relevant NDE technology
oThorough understanding of fatigue loading and crack behaviour
oBroad experience of all aspects of civil and military maritime platform specification, design and manufacture.

Key accountabilities
oResponsible for production of bids and technical scopes of work for the structural engineering team
oTechnical direction of projects, including identification of necessary tools and techniques
oReview and approval of technical deliverables
oCarrying out IDRs as and when appropriate
oPerformance management of structural engineering team, including identification and development of training needs
oEnsuring compliance with relevant Maritime Platforms policies
oDevelop and maintain a chain of contacts internally within QinetiQ and externally in industry, particularly for partnerships
