Quality Engineer
Avenue Scotland is looking to source a high calibre Quality Engineer, for our client's base in Glasgow. Our client is a prominent industrial manufacturing organisation, who has delivered integrated solutions for; boiler cleaning, ash handling, controls and diagnostics for many years.
They currently have a requirement for a 'hands-on' QA professional who will be tasked with establishing themselves and developing a team. Reporting to the Quality Manager, the Quality Engineer is expected to demonstrate exposure to technical expertise i.e. metallurgy, painting, welding, steel grades and other industrial markets.
Purpose of Post:
To support the Quality Manager in all aspects of Quality, Environmental & Occupational Health & Safety Systems, in particular Data / SPC analysis and generation. To be responsible for Shift and Zone Quality Technicians. Satisfy Production requirements by ensuring product quality is maintained through working towards Zero defects.
Key Responsibilities:
o Support the Quality Manager in all aspects of Quality delivery to meet business needs.
o Understand appropriate product liability law and legislative requirements.
o Advise and support all employees with regard to Quality matters.
o Regular review of performance against plan.
o Ensure Quality compliance and audit monitoring.
o Generate reports on defects, rework, concessions & complaints and act upon trends.
Primary Accountabilities:
o Auditing of Quality, Environmental and Occupational H&S systems including analysis of findings.
o Application of statistical techniques to support the effective Process Management, in particular Process Inspection / Final Inspection.
o Application of "Quality Tools and Techniques" to facilitate the resolution of Quality issues, i.e. Root Cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventive action.
o Maintain calibration system, record and report deviations.
o Develop and implement methods and procedures for disposition of discrepant material and devise methods to assess cost and responsibility.
o Creation of process procedures, designing and developing forms and instructions for recording, evaluating and reporting all relevant data.
o Compile and write training material and conduct training sessions on quality control activities.
o Document control, maintaining an integrated approach to Quality performance within the business.
o Prevention of Quality failures and continual improvement of Quality performance within the business
o Regularly evaluate, monitor and audit suppliers, sub-contractors and DPSL staff.
o Prepare and circulate reports and actions following audits / inspections.
o Vendor Quality Management
o Communication and engagement with employees and customers to deliver key company messages.
Qualifications, essential & regulatory:
HNC in Quality Management or equivalent. Associate member AMIQA is desirable but not essential . Experience of working in Quality and Engineering role within a manufacturing environment. Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 & BS OHSAS18001. Ability to operate standard and bespoke software and databases, specifically Microsoft Access. Knowledge of welding procedures is an advantage, as is an IOSH.
